If you want something different for your family photos, I highly recommend at home family photos. After all, it is where your family is most at ease. What location is as special to you all as your home?
On this blog, you will learn what to expect from your at home family photos session.
Contrary to what you might think, you do not need to make your home spotless for your family photo shoot. A quick and simple declutter is perfect. Moreover, I love seeing the real life you live within the walls of your home. Plus, I know you are doing most of the planning and organizing of your photo shoot. You can feel free to check a spotless home off of your list of things to do for your at home family photos.
She’s got to be kidding right? No! Laundry baskets, dishes in the sink, and not a freshly cleaned kitchen is totally ok! One of the most fun at home family photo shoots was with a family that had just moved into their home. You can check out my blog on indoor family photo ideas here!
She wants my kids to misbehave and my home to be messy?! Ha! Ok, stay with me here. First, I want your kids to have genuine smiles and interactions with you. Also, I want you to let go of any expectations of how they need to act or smile. Last, I want you to relax and know that embracing the chaos that sometimes, ok a lot of time, ensues with kids is ok.
When you look back at these family photos, you will remember what it was really like. Not a stiff or fake version of your family. Those moments of craziness and kids being loud will be missed. I have helped so many moms let go of perfection for family photos and they always love seeing the real connections in their kids.
I know partners sometimes are not as thrilled about family photos as you are but they can rest assured it will be an easy experience. The best thing I hear after a family photos is when partners say, “That was it?! That was easy.” and when kids say, “That was the most fun ever!”
Family photos does not have to suck the life out of you and your family, you can enjoy it and do it every year! Can you imagine looking forward to them annually? How awesome would that feeling be?
It can be something very simple, like baking cookies, coloring, reading books, or enjoying donuts together in your kitchen. Having an easy activity for your family to do together breaks the ice, they don’t notice I am there as much, and you create an environment where everyone feels a bit more relaxed. What kind of activity would your family love doing the most together? Mine would love cookies!
Upon arrival, I get to know you all a little more, especially your kids. Next, I have you give me a quick tour of your home to see where the best light is. I am all natural light photographer, so I use the beautiful light pouring in from your windows.
The places that typically give the best light are: kitchen, master bedroom, living room, and sometimes front door/patio area.
This entire process takes about an hour, that is it. It goes really quickly and before you know it, I’ve got hundreds of incredible photos of your family that I will hand edit and deliver to you via online in about 3 weeks. It’s really that simple!
If you have been longing for a fun and unique family photography experience in Vancouver Washington area, I am your girl! Contact me and let’s chat about how I can serve you best.
Are you ready to have your own beautiful photos of your family on your wall? Do you want to feel good about documenting the most important times of your life with your children while genuinely have fun doing it?
