One of the biggest advantages of working with an Oregon Coast family photographer who knows the area is choosing the right beach for your family, the season, and the conditions that day.
Here are a few favorite locations I regularly photograph families at:
Cannon Beach Family Photos
Cannon Beach is iconic for a reason. With wide open sand, dramatic rock formations, and endless room for kids to roam, it’s ideal for families who want a classic Oregon Coast look. Evening sessions here are especially beautiful and less crowded especially during spring and fall.
Hug Point at Low Tide
Hug Point is perfect for families who love a little adventure. At low tide, caves, waterfalls, and rock formations appear, giving kids something exciting to explore while we document natural moments along the way.
Arch Cape Beach Sessions
Arch Cape offers a quieter, more relaxed feel with fewer crowds. This is a great option for families with toddlers or parents who want a more peaceful experience without sacrificing beautiful scenery.
Manzanita Family Photography
Manzanita has a small-town coastal charm and long, walkable beaches. It’s especially lovely for families who want movement-based photos. Such as: walking, playing, and soaking in the slower pace of the coast.
I always help choose the best location based on tides, weather, crowds, and your kids’ ages.

When to Schedule Family Photos on the Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast is beautiful year-round, but timing makes a big difference.
-
Spring: Landscapes are starting to bloom, temperatures getting warmer, and you can avoid the summer crowds
-
Summer: Longer evenings, softer light, and warmer temperatures.
-
Fall: Fewer crowds, moody skies, and stunning coastal tones
-
Evenings: Typically the calmest light and best conditions for families
Cloudy days are actually ideal for photography here, and a little wind is completely normal. I plan sessions around conditions so everything feels relaxed and unhurried.
What to Wear for Oregon Coast Family Photos
Neutral, soft tones photograph beautifully against the sand and ocean, and bold, rich colors can shine here too. Think layers, texture, and comfortable pieces that allow movement, especially for kids. Bare feet are my favorite or neutral shoes work best on the beach and keep the look timeless and relaxed.
I provide guidance on outfits so you don’t have to guess, and I’m always happy to help you plan clothing that feels like you and works well in this environment.

What It’s Like Working With an Oregon Coast Photographer Who Guides You
From location planning to timing and wardrobe, my role is to take the pressure off you. During your session, I gently guide without over-posing, letting kids explore and families connect naturally.
Some of the most meaningful images come from:
-
Kids discovering shells or rocks
-
Parents walking hand in hand along the shoreline
-
Quiet moments between the in-between
You don’t need perfect behavior or ideal weather. Honestly, just show up as you are.
What Families Are Saying…
“I hired Jaime to take our family photos while we were in Oregon on vacation. My husband and I walked away from our session with Jaime and said “wow that was fun”. Jaime doesn’t do your typical posed family photos. You’re running around having fun and the results are breathtaking.
At first I was concerned about my 2 year old staying up late for a sunset session (especially coming from the Midwest).
Jaime was super confident that she’d have no issues and boy was she right. Jaime knew exactly how to get my daughter to smile and just be herself. Is it crazy to plan our next vacation based on Jaime’s location and availability? Heck no, she’s that great.”
