A coastal photo shoot is ideal for adventurous, free-spirited families who love the beauty of the PNW. The Oregon Coast has unique, gorgeous beaches due to its vast blue crashing waves, cliffs, wildlife, and numerous rock formations.
It is easy to get to, only a few hours from Portland, and has quick beach access. You can get as venturesome as you want or walk the beach. Either way, your photos will be beautiful.
If all you do is play with your kids and be present with your family during your session, you will receive images that are joyful and unique to your family.
Family-Friendly Things To Do
The Oregon Coast is a perfect family getaway for the day or weekend. Further, there are fun shops, restaurants, playing on the beach, exploring tide pools, seeing wildlife, and so much more. Here are a few of my recommendations:
Cape Kiwanda, in Pacific City, Oregon, hosts a surf competition in September! It’s so much fun! Grab lunch and a beer at Pelican Brewery and watch the surfers enter the ocean.
Cannon Beach is full of family-friendly things to do. Check out the tide pools by Haystack Rock and grab dinner at Public Coast Brewing Company.
Lincoln City has everything! Check out the outlet stores for fun beach finds, stroll the beach in the evening to watch the sunset, and bring a grandparent to watch a movie with the kiddos at night so you and your partner can get away to the casino for a bit of adult time.
The Best Time of Year for Beach Family Photos
At first, you may think Summer is the only time to head to the beach for family photos in the Pacific Northwest. However, this family was photographed in January.
