I'm Jaime!
When families work with me for photos on the Oregon Coast, they often leave their session saying the same thing: “Wow… that was actually fun.”Instead of stiff posing or forced smiles, your time together looks like movement, laughter, and connection…kids running, parents soaking it in, and moments unfolding naturally as the coast does its thing around you.
I photograph families visiting the Oregon Coast from Portland, Seattle, the Midwest, and beyond, as well as locals who return year after year and want photos that feel like their time here.
I guide you through everything: choosing the right beach, timing the light, and keeping the experience easy for kids, so you can simply show up, be present, and enjoy the moment while I take care of the rest.
Quick Guide to Oregon Coast Family Photos

This experience is especially well suited for:
-Families visiting the Oregon Coast for vacation who don’t know the area
-Parents traveling from Portland or Seattle who want beach photos that are relaxed and laid back.-Families with young kids who need space to move, explore, and warm up naturally
-Parents who want candid, connected images, not stiff posing
-Extended family vacationers who want to capture this time together.
If you’re imagining photos that feel calm, playful, and real, this approach works beautifully on the coast.

One of the biggest advantages of working with an Oregon Coast family photographer who knows the area is choosing the right beach for your family, the season, and the conditions that day.
Here are a few favorite locations I regularly photograph families at:
Cannon Beach is popular for good reason. Haystack Rock creates an iconic backdrop, and there’s plenty of room for families to walk, play, and spread out without feeling crowded.
Even though it’s one of the busiest beaches on the Oregon Coast, I know quieter areas nearby that work beautifully for family sessions while still giving you those classic coastal views.
Best for:
If your family loves exploring, Hug Point is one of my favorite places on the Oregon Coast. At low tide you’ll find sea caves, waterfalls, tide pools, and dramatic rock formations that naturally keep kids engaged.
Because this beach changes with the tides, I always check conditions before recommending it. When the timing is right, it offers one of the most unique experiences anywhere on the coast.
Best for:
If you’re looking for a quieter beach with fewer crowds, Arch Cape is a wonderful option. Just south of Cannon Beach, it offers wide stretches of sand, beautiful coastal views, and a more peaceful atmosphere. It’s especially nice for families who want a slower-paced session where kids have plenty of room to run and explore without a lot of distractions.
Best for:
Manzanita offers one of the widest beaches on the northern Oregon Coast, making it a beautiful choice for relaxed family sessions. With Neahkahnie Mountain in the background and plenty of open shoreline, it’s ideal for families who love long walks, playing in the sand, and enjoying a less crowded beach experience.
Best for:
| Beach | Best For |
|---|---|
| Cannon Beach | First-time visitors and iconic scenery |
| Hug Point | Tide pools, caves, and adventurous kids |
| Arch Cape | Quiet beaches and fewer crowds |
| Manzanita | Relaxed beach walks and wide open sand |
| Pacific City | Dramatic dunes and golden sunsets |
| Ecola State Park | Families wanting both forest and ocean views |

The Oregon Coast is beautiful year-round, but timing makes a big difference.
Cloudy days are actually ideal for photography here, and a little wind is completely normal. I plan sessions around conditions so everything feels relaxed and unhurried.

Neutral, soft tones photograph beautifully against the sand and ocean, and bold, rich colors can shine here too. Think layers, texture, and comfortable pieces that allow movement, especially for kids. Bare feet are my favorite or neutral shoes work best on the beach and keep the look timeless and relaxed.
I provide guidance on outfits so you don’t have to guess, and I’m always happy to help you plan clothing that feels like you and works well in this environment.

From location planning to timing and wardrobe, my role is to take the pressure off you. During your session, I gently guide without over-posing, letting kids explore and families connect naturally.
Some of the most meaningful images come from:
You don’t need perfect behavior or ideal weather. Honestly, just show up as you are.
“I hired Jaime to take our family photos while we were in Oregon on vacation. My husband and I walked away from our session with Jaime and said “wow that was fun”. Jaime doesn’t do your typical posed family photos. You’re running around having fun and the results are breathtaking.
At first I was concerned about my 2 year old staying up late for a sunset session (especially coming from the Midwest).
Jaime was super confident that she’d have no issues and boy was she right. Jaime knew exactly how to get my daughter to smile and just be herself. Is it crazy to plan our next vacation based on Jaime’s location and availability? Heck no, she’s that great.”
-Corey C.

That’s completely normal for the coast and often ideal for photos. I plan sessions with flexibility and experience in coastal conditions.
Yes. Beaches provide space and freedom, which is great for kids who don’t want to sit still.
Absolutely. I guide you based on tides, crowds, and what will work best for your family.
Oregon Coast sessions tend to book ahead, especially during summer and fall. Reaching out early is recommended if you have travel dates planned.
Yes! Just let me know so we can plan the session accordingly.
The Oregon Coast is known for changing weather, but don’t let the forecast worry you. Cloudy skies often create beautiful, soft light for photographs. If the weather calls for heavy rain or unsafe conditions, we’ll simply adjust our plans. I keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your session so you don’t have to stress about making that decision yourself.
Absolutely! Dogs are part of the family, and many Oregon Coast beaches are dog-friendly. If you’d like to include your pup, I’ll recommend locations where they’ll have room to explore while creating beautiful family photographs.
The Oregon Coast is one of those places where kids naturally slow down and become curious. They throw rocks into the ocean, search for shells, chase waves, and somehow forget there’s even a camera nearby.
Those are usually the moments parents tell me they love most.
I won’t ask your kids to smile at the camera the whole time. Instead, I’ll gently guide your family while giving everyone room to explore, laugh, and simply enjoy being together. That’s what creates photographs that feel genuine years later.
If you’re visiting Cannon Beach for the first time or returning to your favorite stretch of coastline, I’d love to help you plan a session that feels relaxed from start to finish.
I’ll help you choose the best beach, recommend the ideal time based on tides and sunset, and guide you through outfits so everything feels easy before your session even begins.
From helping you choose the right beach to planning around tides, sunset, and your family’s personality, I’ll guide you every step of the way so your session feels relaxed from start to finish.
