My Approach to Newborn Photos | Portland Newborn Photography

Portland Newborn Photography can be relaxed, simple, and beautiful in the comfort of your home. Does the thought of newborn photos of you and your family right after you gave birth sort of stress you out? It was for me. You are in the midst of healing, not sleeping, and barely able to take a shower after giving birth. It’s quite an event, I remember just sweating bullets before and during our newborn photo shoot after I had my son. I am so incredibly thankful we did them though, it went fast and those times were precious. It was my own experience that helped my approach to newborn photography.

So, as you can imagine I can sympathize ( I know most moms can) that you are likely feeling a little anxious about newborn photos. Maybe you are incredibly excited but not sure what the heck to expect when I come into your personal space?

I want to create an environment that allows all of what comes with a newborn to be embraced. Read below on how I love to create meaningful and creative images for your newborn session.

Portland newborn photography that feels organic

Not one family is the same so why would you photograph them that way? I love authenticity in photographs and want nothing more than you to see and feel how it truly was at that moment in that of your lives. It is important because it’s what makes your family special and unique.

Guided over Posed

Giving you and your family space to be yourselves allows me to gently guide you to capture the realness of your family at this time. Even though I guide families in a similar way, each and every one is different. It’s really beautiful, I love that everyone is unique, it’s incredibly special.

Relaxed

This might be one of the most important. If you have other kids, I will take the time for them to trust me enough to help them be themselves and parents should embrace this! It’s why kids are so magical to me, let them run around and I like to remind families to let it go. I want families to feel like a good friend came over for coffee, took some photos, and had some fun. I love hearing at the end of a session, “that was easy!” This entire session was done in one well lit room of this families home. You can also dress causal and I help every family find easy wardrobe ideas that they can wear for their newborn photo day.
