Rooster Rock State Park is close to Portland and Vancouver
This park is located less than an hour from Vancouver/Portland area. Your photos will appear that you have traveled much farther from the hustle of the city or the suburbs. However, it is an easy to find location with ample parking. There is a small parking fee and even in the height of summer and beautiful weather you can find parking spots. In addition, you will not have to walk far to get to incredible spots for your family to play around and discover shells in the sand by the Columbia river.
A fun location for kids of all ages
Whether you have young children or teens, they will equally enjoy discovering birds, caterpillars, plants, watching windsurfers, shells on the beach, running and splashing in the river. In addition, the incredible views of the river and large rocks that line the Columbia River Gorge are breathtaking. Unlike an urban setting where cars can be a concern, you won’t have to worry about that here and kids can moving around freely.

Rooster Rock State Park is a located within the gorge and I love to photograph families there due to the variety of landscape and ease of getting to different locations within the park. From a sandy beach to large rock formations, you will have a variety of backdrops for your family photos when you choose this location.
