If you’re a life coach ready to visually align your brand with the transformation you offer your clients, you’re in the right place. A branding session is more than just pretty photos, it’s a chance to capture the heart of your work, your personality, and the energy your dream clients are drawn to.
Hey, I’m Jaime, a Portland branding photographer, I’ll walk you through life coach photoshoot ideas that go beyond the basics: what to wear, where to shoot, which props to bring, and how to visually communicate the emotional tone of your brand. People hire a life coach for transformation, but trust needs to come first. And trust starts with a strong first impression. Your photos should do more than show your face, they should show your energy. Are you calm and grounding? Bold and motivating? Soft and intuitive? Playful and fun?
Every visual element in your photos should align with that emotional tone, whether that’s through your wardrobe, background, or expressions.
Here are some powerful life coach photoshoot ideas that help you tell a story and connect with your dream client instantly:
Think: a cozy office setting, journaling at a desk, speaking into a mic for your podcast, or on a Zoom call with a client. These “in-action” shots build trust and show what it’s like to work with you.
Bonus Tip: If you host retreats, group coaching calls, or in-person events, replicate that feel in your shoot, even if it’s a mockup.
Coaching is personal. Your audience wants to know who you are, not just what you offer. Bring in lifestyle elements like:
Walking your dog
Sipping coffee at your favorite café
Reading a book that shaped your philosophy
Laughing with friends or your partner (if they’re open to being included)
These images humanize your brand and foster emotional connection.
You’ll want a handful of confident, high-impact portraits for your homepage, speaking engagements, and podcast graphics. Think clean backdrops, direct eye contact, and intentional body language.
Great for:
Instagram profile photo
Podcast cover

If mindset, transformation, or clarity are central to your work, use creative props or locations to represent those. For example:
Open fields = freedom & possibility
A sunrise = new beginnings
Mirrors = self-reflection
Notebooks or journals = growth
Flowers = blooming or personal evolution
These are powerful visual cues that speak directly to your ideal client’s emotional journey.
Photos of your laptop with client notes, your favorite planner, sticky notes on the wall, your Spotify playlist playing in the background, all these little touches add richness and personality to your brand visuals. They make your business feel real.

Your wardrobe should reflect your brand voice. If your coaching style is nurturing and calm, opt for soft neutrals, cozy textures, and flowy silhouettes. If you’re bold and direct, go for structured pieces, richer tones, and strong contrast.
Avoid: overly busy prints, too much black, or trends that don’t align with your client’s perception of your brand. When in doubt, stick to your brand colors and silhouettes that make you feel confident.

Perfect for high-end, clean visuals that keep the focus on you and your message.
If your brand is intimate, warm, or grounded in real-life connection, your own space can offer meaningful context. (Just make sure it’s clean and has good natural light.)
If you incorporate mindfulness, movement, or energy healing into your coaching, outdoor spots like trails, beaches, or gardens may resonate more.
Want a luxe feel without renting a full studio? Consider booking a beautifully designed space that aligns with your brand tone.

Recently, I had the chance to photograph Kristen, a life coach who offers 1-1 coaching, workshops, group coaching, and journals and other items that inspire people along their journey. Her brand is warm, empowering, and just a little bit playful, and we leaned into that with a mix of cozy lifestyle shots and bold, clean portraits.
She brought a few intentional props: her favorite journal, a candle she lights before every client session, and a deck of affirmation cards. We shot in a clean white studio and incorporated both neutral and bold brand colors into her wardrobe.
This shoot gave her everything she needed: a homepage banner, website images, headshots, Instagram post and story content, a new podcast graphic, and launch visuals for her group program.

Plan your photo needs in advance. Think website headers, podcast covers, launch graphics, etc.
Stick to a color palette. Choose 2–3 brand colors to anchor your wardrobe and props.
Bring props that feel meaningful. Even a coffee mug or notebook you use daily can add personality. Bring more than you think you will need, all those little (and maybe big things) that make your business unique.
Be yourself. The more you lean into your natural energy, the more you’ll attract aligned clients.
Whether you’re just launching your business or leveling up your online presence, I’d love to help you create scroll-stopping visuals that speak directly to your dream clients.
